In music playschool children learn about the elements of music, such as rhythm, melody, musical form, dynamics, timbre and harmony. We learn in ways that meet every child’s own developmental level. We creatively and playfully develop those skills onwards.
Every lesson has a lively story to tell and children learn without noticing it by being part of the stories such as Frogs by a pond, Elephants and ants, Autumn adventure or perhaps Going to a circus – not to mention all Christmassy and Winter stories!
We have joyful ways of learning
- singing
- rhyming
- playing bodypercussion (clapping, stomping feet aso)
- playing instruments such as percussion instruments, xylophones or ukuleles and kanteles (an easy-to-learn Finnish string instrument)
- musical movement and dancing to music
- listening to music
We learn about the beat, melodic and ostinato rhythms. We learn to play simple chords to accompany ourselves. Most importantly, we learn to sing and have fun together!
Other skills develop, too!
While Music playschool gives musical skills to a child, also other skills will evolve by the help of music:
- Linguistic skills
- Skills to concentrate
- Creativity
- Gross and fine motor skills
- Social skills
- Self-esteem increases
Our teaching follows the curriculum of the Basic education in the arts set by the Finnish National Agency for Education.
