Your own instrument lessons – Personal instruction in the instrument of your choice. In preparatory studies, you can choose either a 15‑minute or 30‑minute lesson. There are 30 lessons per school year. The page is in Finnish.

Start Your Music Hobby with Preparatory Lessons
Preparatory lessons are the easiest way to begin your music journey. Joining is flexible and simple – no entrance exams required. You can start with individual instrument lessons or participate in group classes.
The preparatory program lasts 1–2 years, after which you can continue with elective studies or apply for the basic music education program.
How to join?
Enrollment is based on the order of registration. To secure your spot for the instrument you’re interested in, sign up during the spring or autumn registration periods.
You can also start in the middle of the school year if there are available places in your chosen group, instrument, or singing lessons.

Individual lessons
With the support of your own teacher, your skills will grow remarkably! You’ll receive instruction and guidance tailored exactly to your needs. Once you know which instrument you want to play, individual lessons are an excellent choice for developing your abilities.
As your skills progress, you will also have the opportunity to join a suitable group and play together with other students. Your teacher will help you find the right group.

You can start even without your own instrument
You can borrow an instrument from us if you wish. Purchasing your own instrument is therefore not necessary when starting music studies. Our storage includes most common instrument types.
You are always welcome to try music as a hobby
Not sure if music studies would suit your child? The best way to find out is to try. All instruments can be tested through a three‑lesson trial period.
